SLU (Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) is a university with a clearly defined role in society: to take responsibility for the development of learning and expertise in areas concerning biological resources and bological production. 

University activities are spread between several departments in four faculties: Faculty of Landscape Planning, Horticulture and Agricultural Science, Faculty of Natural Resources and Agriculture Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science and Faculty of Forest Sciences. A total of 3 200 people are employed at the University. About 3 300 undergraduates and 800 postgraduate students are enrolled at SLU.

Location

Main campuses are located at Alnarp, Umeå, Ultuna and Skara. Research and teaching activities are carried out throughout the country.

Alnarp is situated within the region of Öresund which offers a multitude of interaction with other universities both concerning education and research. What distinguishes SLU in Skara is the close co-operation with industry and interdisciplinary method of working. Umeå is the main campus of the Faculty of Forest Sciences.  It is situated close to Umeå University in an open environment. The scenery is beautiful with lots of birches and the Swedish mountains close by.  SLUs departments can be found at several places in the town of Uppsala. Most of them are found at Ultuna, a beautiful campus situated a few kilometers south of the city centre. Ultuna is an attractive combination of old agricultural traditions and todays cutting-edge research. Ultuna also houses the main part of the universitys general administration and management. Two of SLUs four faculties are stationed here, the Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science.
